Tent and Footprint Cleaning and Care Instructions:
Storage:
Always make sure your tent is dry and free of debris before storing. Fold and roll your tent a different way each time to avoid permanent creases. Store in a cool, dry place. Never leave your tent in hot temperatures (such as a car trunk or attic space) for long periods of time, as it will damage the material coatings. Storing your tent damp can result in mildew growth, which may cause your tent to smell, leak, or delaminate. Mildew damage is not covered under warranty.
Cleaning:
For light cleaning, sponge the product with warm water (not hot).
For more thorough cleaning you will need:
-Wash basin (or bath tub)-Warm water (not hot)
-Waterproof Gear Cleaner (we recommend products like Nikwax Tech Wash)
-Sponge
1. Submerge your gear in warm, clean water. Gently agitate with hands. Empty dirty water. Repeat until most of the excess dirt/grime is removed and water is mostly clear.
2. Apply waterproof gear specific wash and gently work into fabric with sponge.
3. Rinse gear thoroughly.
4. Hang it up to dry.
5. Triple check that your gear is completely dry before storage or use.
*Do not dry clean or machine-wash. Detergents and dry cleaning solvents will damage the fabric and ruin waterproofing.
*Never use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents, or dishwashing liquids.
*Allow to dry COMPLETELY before storage or use.
*Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as UV exposure can compromise waterproofing.
Seam Sealing:
Big Agnes tents are seam sealed as part of our manufacturing process! This seam tape alone is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Any seams that have been taped do not need to be seam sealed with a liquid sealer unless you want extra protection. Make sure the seam-sealer is completely dry before re-packing your tent. Damage caused by misapplication may void warranty.
Zippers:
Keeping your zippers clean will help keep the coils and sliders from wearing out. If filled with dirt, vacuum or brush zippers before storing tent. We recommend Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
Repairs and Warranty:
All Big Agnes tents are guaranteed against manufacturing or material defect. We do not warranty products damaged from normal wear and tear, alteration made by owner, misuse, accidents or damages caused by uses other than intended. Damage due to misuse, normal wear and tear, or improper care may be repaired, at the discretion of Big Agnes, at a reasonable charge. Tents returned for repair must be clean and free of debris.

1. Remove contents from stuff sack. Spread out the tent body.
2. Assemble the three poles: two long same length poles, one shorter cross pole. To ensure each pole section is fully seated, insert each pole section into the next by hand instead of allowing the shock cord to snap them together.
3. Lay the two long poles diagonally across the tent body so they cross at the center and align with the plastic clips on the seams.
4. Locate the large carabiner style clip at the center of the tent body and fasten around the pole intersection.
5. Place the shorter cross over pole on top of the two long poles.
6. Insert the cross over pole tips into the grommets on the webbing tabs above the two doors.
7. Next to the carabiner style clip, there will be a smaller clip. Fasten this clip to the center of the shorter cross over pole.
8. There are 5 plastic clips located on each of the diagonal seams on the tent body. Starting at the pole intersection clip the first two clips along each seam to the corresponding long poles. Leave the remaining 3 clips on each seam un-attached.
9. Insert the long pole tips into the grommets at the four corners.
10. Unzip the doors and step underneath the tent body to raise up the structure from the center
11. Attach all remaining plastic clips on the tent body to the corresponding poles.
12. The tent will now be a freestanding structure. Stake out to use as a bug house. Note: when using the bug house alone with no fly, it is advised to hook four guy-lines to the metal hubs at the four corners. Stake out and evenly tension each corner as needed to keep the structure stable.
13. Drape the rainfly over the tent body matching the colors of the webbing on the fly with the webbing on the tent body.
14. Locate the short pole sections sticking out from the metal hubs at the four corners. Insert the pole tips of these four pole sections into the four corner pockets on the underside of the fly.
15. Make sure the webbing at the four corners of the fly is completely slackened.
16. Insert the pole tips at the four corners into the grommets on the fly. Each pole tip will be secured in two grommets one from the fly and one from the tent body.
17. Hook four guy-lines to the corner hub webbing loops. Stake out and evenly tension the webbing on each corner as needed to keep the rainfly taut.
18. Stake out all remaining guy lines.
FLY ONLY SETUP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Remove the fly, poles, hook guy-lines and stakes from the carry bag.
2. Assemble the three poles: two long same length poles, one shorter pole. To ensure each pole section is fully seated, insert each pole section into the next by hand instead of allowing the shock cord to snap them together.
3. Place the two long poles in an X on the ground.
4. Place the fly over the non-erect pole structure. Match the long pole tips with the corners of the fly.
5. Locate the shock cord loop at the center peak on the underside of the fly. Loop the shock cord around the pole intersection to secure.
6. Locate the short pole sections sticking out from the metal hubs at the four corners. Insert the pole tips of three of the four pole sections into the corner pockets on the underside of the fly.
7. Step underneath the non-erect structure and raise up the structure from the center. Insert the fourth pole tip into its corresponding pocket.
8. Insert the four pole tips into the grommets at the four corners of the fly.
9. Attach the Velcro® tabs on the underside of the fly to the corresponding poles for the best stability.
10. Feed the shorter cross over pole between the pole structure and the fly. For the best stability ensure that the shock cord is looped around all three poles.
11. Insert the cross over pole tips into the grommets on the webbing tabs above the two open sides of the fly.
12. Hook four guy-lines to the corner hub webbing loops. Stake out and evenly tension the webbing on each corner as needed to keep the rainfly taut.
13. Stake out all remaining guy lines.
FLY AND FOOTPRINT SET UP INSTRUCTIONS:
If you purchase the optional Big Agnes footprint for your Sugarloaf tent, you can pitch a fly and footprint configuration or include it with the full shelter configuration.
1. Lay the footprint on the ground and stake out.
2. Assemble the three poles: two long same length poles, one shorter pole. To ensure each pole section is fully seated insert each pole section into the next by hand, instead of allowing the shock cord to snap them together.
3. Lay the two long poles on top of the footprint in an X.
4. Place the fly over the non-erect pole structure. Match the colors of the webbing on the fly with those on the footprint.
5. Locate the shock cord loop at the center peak on the underside of the fly. Loop the shock cord around the pole intersection to secure.
6. Insert the pole tips into the grommets of the foot print and the fly at each corner (poles will not be free standing at this point allow them to lay flat on the ground)
7. Stand on the footprint underneath the fly. Take ahold of the two long poles and raise the pole structure, so that the poles cross at the center peak of the fly.
8. Attach the Velcro® tabs on the underside of the fly to the corresponding poles. This will hold the pole structure upright.
9. Locate the short pole sections sticking out from the metal hub sections at the four corners. Insert the pole tips of the four pole sections into the corner pock-ets on the underside of the fly.
10. Feed the shorter cross over pole between the pole structure and the fly. For the best stability ensure that the shock cord is looped around all three poles.
11. Insert the cross over pole tips into the grommets on the webbing strips above the two open sides of the fly.
12. Hook four guy-lines to the corner hub webbing loops. Stake out and evenly tension the webbing on each corner as needed to keep the rainfly taut.
13. Stake out all remaining guy lines.
Separate 6” large diameter pole segment included for emergency field repair. Slide repair pole over the break to act as a splint.
HELPFUL HINTS FOR TENT SET UP
Our tents are easy to set up, but we suggest you practice once at home before using them for the first time to avoid late night bickering with tent mates while fumbling around in the dark.
Before pitching tent, clear campsite of debris that may pierce tent floor.
We recommend staking out all corners, vestibules and guylines to increase space and ventilation. Securely staking out your tent and all guylines is crucial to maintaining the structural integrity of your tent.
Hang onto your stuff sacks or they’ll blow away and create backcountry litter.
Pull on the pole sleeve fabric when inserting poles to avoid any bunching in the material.
Push rather than pull poles through pole sleeves.
